Defuse vs Diffuse

Defuse is simple. The literal meaning of defuse is to de-fuse. It basically means to remove the fuse from a bomb or to deescalate or to reduce the danger or tension. Diffuse, on the other hand, means to spread out in a wide or large area. Diffuse has a similar meaning to disperse.
Telescope vs Microscope

The main difference between a telescope and a microscope is that a telescope allows one to look at things far away, typically in the skies, such as the moon, stars, galaxies, etc., whereas a microscope allows one to look at things that are too small to be seen with the eye, such as cell structures, atoms, molecules, etc.
Northern Lights vs Aurora Borealis

The main difference between the Northern Lights and Aurora Borealis is that there is no difference between them. Aurora Borealis is the official and scientific name for the Northern Lights. The Northern Lights or the Aurora Borealis is a type of aurora that take place at the North Pole.
Northern Lights vs Southern Lights

Both the Northern Lights and Southern Lights are types of Auroras. The only difference between the Northern Lights and Southern Lights is that the Northern Lights occur at the North Pole, while the Southern Lights occur at the South Pole.
Fossil vs Bone

Bones are an intricate part of the body. Most creatures have bones in their body, and all animals definitely have bones. Bones make up the skeletal system of the body, which serves a variety of functions. A fossil, on the other hand, is the preserved remains or traces of animals, plants, and other organisms from the remote past.
Nectar vs Pollen

Nectar and Pollen are two different substances that are produced by plants. The basic difference between them is that nectar is a fluid produced by the flower, where as pollen is the sperm cells of the plant.
Different Types of Thermometers

Thermometers are devices used for the measurement of temperature. They are mainly of two types – electrical and non-electrical. Thermometers based on mechanisms like mercury in glass or vapor pressure fall in the non-electrical types, whereas electrical ones usually use semiconductors like diodes and resistors in them.
Different Types of Clouds

Clouds are generally classified into three types – High, Low and Middle types, depending upon their region of formation. They are further classified according to their shape and size.
Different Types of Animals

Animal kingdom consists of many different types of animals, but still all the animal share common characteristics. They all are multicellular means made up of more than one cell. They do not contain any cell walls like plant cells, and they consume or eat other organisms too.
Meroplankton vs Holoplankton

Meroplankton and Holoplankton are two different groups of Zooplankton. Meroplankton refer to those organisms which only spend a portion of their life cycle within the plankton form. On the other hand, Holoplankton are those organisms which remain as plankton throughout their life cycles.
Ice vs Dry Ice

Both, Ice and Dry Ice are used for their cooling properties. The key differences between ice and dry ice lie in their chemical structures, properties and their contradictory temperatures.
Estuary vs Delta

Delta is a sedimentary deposit formed at mouth of some rivers. It is usually triangular in shape. On the other hand, an estuary is a semi-enclosed body of water where fresh water meets the ocean.
Predator vs Prey

Predator hunts Prey. A predator is an animal who hunts other animals; while, a prey is that animal that is hunted by other animal. Both, of these animals are necessary for maintaining the ecological balance of the Earth.
Foetus vs Embryo vs Zygote

Zygote is the fertilized egg which is formed when the sperm and egg are fused together. Embryo is the middle stage between zygote and foetus. The zygotes undergo several forms in order to form an embryo which further develops into a foetus. A foetus is the stage of embryo in which all recognizable parts of the body tends to reflect. Thus, zygote develops into an embryo and embryo develops into a foetus. These terms are mainly used in context to viviparous mammals.
Modified Stem vs Modified Root

Both stems and roots of a plant are modified into different forms to perform specific functions other than their normal functions. Generally, the roots and the stem of the plant change their structures in order to adapt in the environment. Now, based on the diverse parts of the plant that grow above or below the ground, the stems and roots can be differentiated.
