Difference between iPhone 6s and iPhone 7

Key Difference: The iPhone 7 is way too similar to the previous phone in the series, iPhone 6S. They have many similarities, however the major difference between them is that the iPhone 7 is now waterproof, has more storage, and a bigger battery, but it no longer has the 3.5mm jack for headphones.

Many say that new is better, but the truth of the matter is that things are never that black and white. It is a similar case between iPhone 6s and iPhone 7. Most iPhone users will be looking to upgrade to the newer flagship model, but should they really?

The iPhone 7 had been one of the most, in fact probably the most, anticipated phone of the year. However, for a lot of the fans of the company, it was bit of a letdown, primarily because it was way too similar to the previous phone in the series, iPhone 6S. Many people criticized the phone and the company for a lack of innovation.

Most of the design and specifications are the same, with possibly some minor tweaks. Such as both have a 4.7-inch LED-backlit widescreen display with a resolution of 1334x750-pixel for a total of 326 ppi (pixels per inch). Most of the internal functionalities are also the same, such as both have 2 GB of RAM.

However, that does not mean that they are the same phones. Apple has made some improvements to the newer phone, albeit less than what fans were hoping. Firstly and for some, the most importantly, the iPhone 7 is now water proof with the IP67 certification, which means that it can now go swimming with its user or survive a fall into a puddle. Also, the iPhone 7 is available in 2 brand new colors, Black and Jet Black, which replace the Space Grey variety of iPhone 6s. The other colors remain the same. The iPhone 7 is also available with different storage capacities such as 32/128/256 GB, as compared to the 16/32/64/128 GB variants of the iPhone 6s.

Other differences include a quad-core CPU over the dual core of 6s. The iPhone 7 features Apple's new quad-core A10 Fusion processor, which is supposedly 40% faster than the iPhone 6s's A9 chipset. This gives it additional power to handle even more demanding tasks. The newer phone also gets a faster GPU, which is said to be 50% faster than the previous reiteration. The iPhone 7 also gets a boost in battery life with a slightly bigger battery giving it up to supposedly 2 hours longer battery life than the iPhone 6s.The newer phone also comes with iOS 10.0.1, as compared to the previous iOS 9, which is sort of negated by the fact that both are upgradable to iOS 10.0.2. Also, the front-facing camera has been improve from a 5 MP to a 7 MP, and quad LED flash has been incorporated for the secondary camera.

Despite of everything else, there is one huge change in the iPhone 7; it no longer has the 3.5mm jack. Instead, users must make use of an adapter that will convert the lightening port to a 3.5mm port for headphones. Alternately, one can also use the new Lightning EarPods. While this might be frustrating for most, the benefit of this is that the removal of the 3.5mm jack has left enough space for another speaker on the top, which means that the iPhone 7 is the first iPhone to offer stereo sound.

Another major change that will be welcomes by all iPhone users is the announcement that the iPhone 7 comes with the newly announced, extra tough Gorilla Glass 5. This should at least solve the issue of the screen shattering on even the slightest touch.
