Difference between Nokia Lumia 1020 and Nokia Lumia 928

Key difference: The Lumia 1020 is the newest flagship phone by Nokia. It features a 41 MP camera and runs on Windows Mobile 8.  Nokia Lumia 928 is a previously launched phone of Nokia.

Nokia is a Finland-based multinational communications and information technology corporation. Nokia’s phones have been famously known as being simple and durable.

On July 23, 2013, Nokia announced the launch of its newest flagship phone, the Lumia 1020. The Lumia 1020 succeeds the Nokia 808 PureView. The device comes with a 32 GB internal memory and a 2GB RAM. It is run on Windows Mobile 8.

However, the most highlighted feature of the Lumia 1020 is the 41 MP camera with PureView technology. PureView utilizes a pixel oversampling technique, which reduces an image taken at full resolution into a lower resolution picture while maintaining a higher definition and light sensitivity. It also allows for lossless zoom.

Due to this the phone is marketed towards amateur photographers and shutterbugs. However, also because of the camera, the phone is classified as a niche device, which is why is pricier than most high-end smartphones. A camera case accessory for the phone is also available, which turns the phone into a point and shoot camera. The case also allows the phone to be attached to a tripod.

One of Nokia’s previously launched phones is the Nokia Lumia 928. The 928 is quite similar to Nokia’s flagship 920, but has added on extra features and tweaks. The Nokia Lumia 928 does not share the physical characteristics of the 920. It is in a bar from that has a slight bulge on the back that makes the phone comfortable to hold.

The Nokia phones are known for the bright interactive colors, which are no longer an option in this model. The phone is available only in two options: matte black and glossy white. This is believed to be because it is a Verizon exclusive phone.

The phone comes with a 4.5-inch AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with ~334 ppi pixel density and boasts excellent sunlight readability. The AMOLED screen is better for side viewing angles and sunlight visibility. The phone does have excellent resolution and the images are sharp, crisp and clear. The screen can also be configured for ‘high touch sensitivity’ known as ‘glove mode’.

The phone is powered by 1.5 GHz Krait Dual-core Qualcomm MSM8960 Snapdragon processor. It is powered by the Windows Phone 8 OS. The phones offers 1 GB RAM and has 32 GB internal memory, and no external memory. The device houses an 8.7 MP PureView rear camera and a 1.2 MP front camera. The rear camera comes with the Carl Zeiss optics for sharper images. It also comes with the typical autofocus, image stabilization, flash etc.
