Difference between Samsung Galaxy S6, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Key Difference: Samsung Galaxy S6 cases a 5.1 super AMOLED touchscreen with 577 ppi and gives perfect black levels and impressive contrast levels. iPhone 6 comes with a 4.7 inch IPS LCD, which provides crisp and sharp colors. The iPhone 6 Plus offers a 5.5 inch screen and offers a better PPI (401 ppi) and screen resolution.

Samsung Galaxy is one of the top smartphone manufacturing companies around the world. It is known for setting standards in high-end phones and providing stiff competition to other brilliant smartphone companies such as Apple and Sony. Samsung has recently announced the latest addition to its flagship –the Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge. We will only be comparing the S6 and not the Edge model.

Apple isa well-known company that produced expensive smartphones and computers and are known for its innovative software and sleek designs. The company has also added to its flagship with the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

The Samsung Galaxy S6has left behind the polycarbonate casing and has opted for a glass front and back with a steel curved band. Although, this makes the phone look sleek, it is more prone to scratches and cracks on the front as well as the back. The phone cases a 5.1 super AMOLED touchscreen with 577 ppiand gives perfect black levels and impressive contrast levels.

The iPhone 6 continues to shine in terms of looks and still comes with the steel casing and a strengthened screen with oleophobic coating. The screen size also remains the same with the 4.7 inches IPS LCD, which provides crisp and sharp colors. The iPhone still offers better viewing angles and strong color accuracy.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by a 1.5 GHz Quad-core Cortex-A53 with a 2.1 GHz quad-core Cortext-A57. The CPUs are paired with an Exynos 7420 chipset and a Mali-T760MP8 GPU and offers a 3GB RAM, that makes multitasking a breeze on this phone. The phone is offered with three storage options 32, 64 and 128 GB with no storage support.

Under the hood of the iPhone lies a powerful 1.4 GHz dual-core ARM v8-based CPU that may seem small on paper, but is superfast when it comes to actual operation. The CPU is paired with Apple 8 chipset and the powerful PowerVR GX6450 GPU. The phone offers a 1 GB RAM that lacks compared to the 2 GB RAMs that are offered on other phones in this price range.iPhone 6 also comes with three storage options of 16, 46 and 128 GB with no storage support.

Galaxy S6 comes with the latest Android version of 5.0.2 (Lollipop), which has the company’s own TouchWiz UI applied on top of it. The company has previously received flak for its UI because of TouchWiz taking away from the stock Android and also including unnecessary applications that cannot be removed. However, with the S6 the company has limited the number of apps that are added, making the UI cleaner and easier to operate.

iPhone 6 comes with iOS 8.4 and is believed to be upgradable to the latest iOS 9, when released. The OS is clean, pristine and easy to use. Apple has also added features such as more actionable notifications, widgets inside the Notification Tray and third party. The OS also includes Apple Music, the company’s very own music streaming service.

Both the phones have included a fingerprint reader as a security measure and to allow payments via Samsung Pay and Apple Pay, respectively. While, iPhone 5 included this feature of fingerprint reader on the Home Button, the button was small to consider the print. The Home Button size has increased and the reader is fast and seamless in reading the print. Samsung has taken the idea from Apple and also incorporated the fingerprint reader on the Home Button.

In terms of camera, Samsung offers a high 16 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera. On the other hand, Apple includes an MP rear camera and 1.2 MP front camera. However, both the phones are close in terms of snapping sharp images. Samsung only beats the iPhone camera by having an optical image stabilization, which results in better photos in low lighting conditions. However, the optical image stabilization was added to the iPhone 6 Plus.

Samsung also beats iPhone when it comes to battery. While Samsung offers a 2550 mAh non-removable battery, Apple only has an 1810 mAh non-removable battery. Both the phones will last a full working day, but Samsung offers a power saving mode to save up on the battery when it is low.Samsung also offers a cool wireless charging, but it charges faster when connected via the wire. Apple has yet to offer wireless charging for its smartphone range.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are quite similar in many of the features and what it offers. The major difference is the size of the screen – while iPhone 6 offers a 4.7 inch screen, the iPhone 6 Plus offers a 5.5 inch screen. The iPhone 6 Plus also offers a better PPI and screen resolution. The battery is also more powerful compared to its smaller counterpart.
