Difference between Samsung Galaxy S5 and S3

Key Difference: Samsung Galaxy S5 and S3 are two of the smartphone by Samsung. The most upgraded features of the S5 include the Finger Reader, a fingerprint sensor that allows users to use their fingerprint to unlock the Galaxy S5; a heart rate monitor on the back, which syncs to the upgraded S Health app. Additionally, the Galaxy S5 is dust and water resistant.

Samsung Galaxy S5 and S3 are two of the smartphone by Samsung, a conglomerate that essentially has the largest smartphone market share. Samsung has once announced that the Samsung Galaxy S3 was its most popular smartphone. While, the S3 was followed by the S4, its popularity was not diminished. Now with the launch of the latest Samsung Galaxy S5, its popularity will be tested.

The S5 generally follows the classic look of the previous Samsung Galaxy smartphones. It has the sleek, curved corners. However, the S5 is more block shaped with rounded edges, a design that Samsung claims is inspired by nature. The back is a different matter entirely; the S5 comes with a new matte back panel that has a perforated pattern over it. Still, the entire chassis is made of plastic. The body of the S5 is slightly slimmer than the S3 but also slightly heavier. The S5 has a 5.1 inch Full HD screen as compared to the 4.8 inch HD screen on the S3, which means that the S5 will be larger as well.

In terms of hardware, the S5 has a Quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 400 CPU with Adreno 330 GPU and 2 GB of RAM. The S3, on the other hand, has a Quad-core 1.4 GHz Cortex-A9 CPU, with a Mali-400MP GPU and 1GB RAM. Another great improvement is that the S5 comes a 16 MP primary camera and a 2 MP front facing camera over the S3’s 8 MP primary camera and 1.9 MP front facing camera. Additionally, the S5 also uses a hybrid autofocus system that uses standard auto focus with phase detection autofocus, which means that the camera auto focuses in upto 0.3 seconds, which is faster than most phone cameras.

The S5 is available in two storage variants, the 16GB and 32 GB, whereas the S3 was available in three: 16 GB, 32 GB and 64GB. However, the S5 has an microSD expandable storage up to 128 GB (in some markets), while S3 has an expandable storage only up to 64 GB. Also, the S5 is available in less colors than the S3 was. The S5 comes in four color variants: Charcoal Black, Copper Gold, Electric Blue, and Shimmery White, whereas the S3 came in Pebble blue, Marble white, Amber brown, Garnet red, Sapphire black, Titanium grey, and La Fleur.

It also has a new Ultra Power saving mode, which help conserve battery power by turning the screen black and white and shutting down all background running apps. It still allows calls, texts, and web browsing.
