Training and workshops are common in the arsenal of a trainer who aims to provide instruction and training to recruits. However, what is the difference between the two? Are they are same? Do they serve the same purpose, or are they different?

Training is the act of providing information and instruction to someone. It is the act of teaching and or developing skills, knowledge, etc. in a student. The purpose of training is to improve one's capability, capacity, productivity and performance. Many trades, occupations or professions, require basic initial training.

Workshops, on the other hand, are like training events, in which the basic information is provided. Workshops are basically conference room meetings that allow the facilitation of training. Workshops can be used to create or generate plans, analysis, or design that supports the employees and/or the organization. A workshop allows the users to share ideas and help each other facilitate new ideas that can be beneficial to all.

The main difference between training and workshop is that training is the act of teaching and providing instruction, whereas workshops are events in which this instruction can be handed out.

In corporate practicality, training refers to the act or training a recruit so that he or she may effectively be able to do their job. This means providing them will all the relevant information, skills, and resources to do their job. Workshop’s on the other hand, are corporate events where this knowledge, skills and information can be shared and given. Workshops can even be used to provide additional information to established employees so that they may develop new skills and incorporate new information in their jobs, which many lead to increased productivity. Workshops can last from a couple of hours to perhaps a few days. However, the workshops are actually just one part of an effective training plan.
