Today’s world is so technologically dependent that smartphones are needs rather than just devices. There are people who literally can’t stay away from their phones for even a few minutes. While there are many smartphone manufactures, one of the leading smartphone manufactures is Samsung. Samsung is a South Korean based electronics company.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is the latest smartphone by Samsung. It is the newest model in its Samsung Galaxy line. It was preceded by the Samsung Galaxy S4. With the Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung has played it safe and stuck to what was already popular with the S4. While there are some changes, majority of the S5 is the same as to what the Galaxy users were already used to. Hence, it cannot be said that the Samsung Galaxy S5 is the innovative, next-generation smartphone that it ought to be.

The front of the S5 is so similar to the S4 that unless kept next to each other the user will not be able to differentiate between the two. The S5 has a slightly more capsule-shaped central home button, but the same steep-sided, silvery-trimmed mold as the S4. However, the back has some design changes. The S5 has a different back panel motif with dimples all over a matte back panel. Also, while the S4 came two colors: black and white, the S5 comes in 4 colors: black, white, blue and copper.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is also slightly larger and heavier than the Galaxy S4. It also has a slightly larger screen. The S5 has a 5.1 inch Full HD Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen, as compared to the 4.99 inch Full HD Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen. Both screens are Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

In terms of hardware, the S5 has a 2.5 GHz Quad-core Krait 400 as compared to the S4’s 1.6 GHz Octa-Core Samsung Exynos 5 processor or 1.9 GHz Snapdragon Fusion Pro quad-Core processor as depending on the market. The S5 has a Adreno 330 to the PowerVR SGX 544MP3 GPU of the S4. The S5 also has the updates software. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat, whereas the S4 rus on Android 4.2 Jellybean.

The S5 has a 16 MP, 5312 x 2988 pixel secondary camera and a 2 MP, 1080p primary camera. The S4 has a 13 MP, 4128 x 3096 pixels secondary camera and a 2 MP primary camera. The S5 is available in two storage variants, the 16GB and 32 GB, whereas the S4 is available in three: 16 GB, 32 GB and 64Gb. However, the S5 has an microSD expandable storage up to 128 GB, while S4 has an expandable storage up to 64 GB.

Despite the similar nature of the two phones, Samsung has introduced some neat features in the Galaxy S5. It has a fingerprint scanner in addition to a heart rate monitor on the back which pairs with an updated S Health App. The S5 has also upgraded to the USB 3.0 which allows faster data transfer. Most importantly, the S5 is dust and water resistant, the first Samsung phone to be.
