Difference between Sony Xperia Z Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Note 2

Key Difference: The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is a high-end phablet launched on July 3, 2012 and marketed as "the world's slimmest Full HD smartphone." The Samsung Galaxy Note 2 is the predecessor of the latest Samsung phablet, the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.

Sony had recently launched its flagship phone the Sony Xperia Z. After the success of Xperia Z, Sony sought to outdo it with the Sony Xperia Z Ultra. The Sony Xperia Z Ultra is a high-end phablet launched on July 3, 2012. The company has marketed the device as "the world's slimmest Full HD smartphone."

Continuing the legacy of Xperia Z, the Xperia Z Ultra is also dust protected, low pressure water jet protected, and waterproof. It is also shatter-proof and scratch-resistant. The Ultra also utilizes the same "Omni-Balance" design as Xperia Z. The phone features a 6.4 inch screen, on which the user can take notes or draw on with a regular pen or pencil.

Under the hood, the phone has a 2.2 GHz Qualcomm MSM8974 Quad Core processor and 2 GB of RAM. It also features an 8 MP camera fast-capture camera with Exmor RS, with 16X digital zoom, as well as a 2 MP front-facing camera. It is powered by a 3050mAh Lithium polymer battery and has 16 GB of internal memory, which is expandable via a microSD of up to 64 GB.

The Samsung Galaxy Note II or Note 2 is a phablet manufactured by Samsung and is an Android based smartphone. The Note II is the predeccesor of the Galaxy Note 3 and the successor of the Galaxy Note I. The Note II is known for its large display of 5.5 inches (141 mm), as well as its integral use of a stylus, called the S pen. The beauty of a Galaxy Note II is that it falls between the categories of a smartphone and a tablet. It is hence marketed as a ‘phablet’, a phone and a tablet, a hybrid or sorts.

In terms of hardware, the Note II features a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor, 720p resolution display, and 2 GB of RAM. The Note II is available in a variety of colors and in storage capacities of 16 GB, 32 GB and 64 GB. The phone also has an external expandable memory of up to 64 GB. The Galaxy Note II was launched with Android 4.1 (also called Jelly Bean) and at the time of its launch was the first phone to feature Android 4.1. The Note II also has easy usability because of the pen, which the users can use to write or draw on the phablet like it was paper.
