Difference between B.E. and B.S. in Engineering

Key Difference: B.E. stands for Bachelor of Engineering. It is a degree that is conferred on completion of a three to five year program related to engineering concepts. BS in Engineering stands for Bachelor of Science in Engineering. They both refer to similar type of courses and the degrees are awarded on successful completion of the courses.

B.E. and B.S. in Engineering often create confusion as both are related to the engineering courses. Many people assume that both are different from each other. However, there is not much difference between them. The only difference that exists is due to the colleges or Universities offering these degrees, and that is regarding the implementation of these courses. The content and approach towards these courses depend entirely upon the authorities pertaining to the concerned colleges. For example, some colleges may emphasis more on theoretical concepts in a BS in engineering as compared to B.E. courses offered by other colleges. Thus, apart from this formal difference there is not much difference between them.

B.E. or B.S. in Engineering is opted by one who aspires to be an engineer. The courses usually last in between three to five years. The course is available in various fields like Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and many more.
