Difference between iPhone 6 and iPhone 5C

Key Difference: In September of 2014, Apple announced two of its latest phones: the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. They follow the iPhone 5, iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C. The iPhone 6 has a bigger screen, rounded edges, and newer hardware as compared to the iPhone 5C.

In September of 2014, Apple announced two of its latest phones: the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus. These phones succeed the variants of the iPhone 5 range. The iPhone 5C was essentially a slightly cheaper variant of the iPhone 5.

The biggest difference in iPhone 5C was that it was available in vibrant colors, which no iPhone had done till date. It came in White, Pink, Yellow, Blue and Green. The phone itself is very similar to iPhone 5. It touts a 4.0 inches LED-backlit IPS LCD, capacitive touchscreen with a 326 ppi pixel density. It also has a Dual-core 1.3 GHz A6 architecture running iOS 7. It has a 8-megapixel iSight camera with a 1.2 megapixel secondary camera for FaceTime. The phone itself comes in two internal memory variants: 16 GB and 32 GB.

The iPhone 6 differs from the iPhone 5C in some notable ways. Firtly, the iPhone 6 has a larger screen. It features a 4.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit widescreen with Multi‑Touch display and IPS technology. However, the 4.7-inch display has the same resolution as the 4.0 inch screen of iPhone 5C. The both have a 326 ppi pixel density.

In addition to the larger screen, the iPhone 6 features rounded phone edges as opposed to the iPhone 5C’s straight angular edges. The iPhone 6 continues to have the aluminium backing and toughened glass fronts which was introduced with the iPhone 5. This aims to reduce the problem of shattered backs as seen in the iPhone 4. Additionally, the iPhone 6 is slimmer than the iPhone 5C. Further changes in the body include the move of the power button from the top of the phone to the side. This has been done to make it easier to reach on the larger body.

The iPhone 6 also features a Dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone (ARM v8-based) A8 architecture running the newly launched iOS 8. The iPhone 6 also has a PowerVR GX6650 GPU. Apple claims that the iPhone 6 will have improved graphics and CPU performance by 50% and 20% respectively. However, both have 1 GB RAM. The iPhone 6 will also come with new M8 motion coprocessor, which like the M7 is primarily aimed at fitness applications and can now distinguish between running, cycling and elevation.

Like the iPhone 5C, the iPhone 6 also has an 8-megapixel camera, with an f / 2.2 lens and sensor pixels 1.5 microns a piece; but the iPhone 6 has a protruding camera lens from the back which may be an issue for scratching. Additionally, the iPhone 6 offers a software called ‘Digital Image Stabilisation’ (DIS) which minimises camera shake that causes blurred shots. Its front facing FaceTime Camera is 1.2 megapixales which takes in 81% more light, gain HDR, improved face detection and a burst mode for better selfies. The phone also offers 1080p video recording at 30fps and 60fps (frames per second) as well as 120-240fps in slo-mo.

The iPhone comes is variants of 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB. The iPhone 6 is available in the traditional iPhone colors of Silver, Gold, Space Gray. The phone also has a bigger battery as compared to the previous range.
