Amendment vs Revision

The main difference between the terms is that amendment means to add or remove something from the original, while revision implies making changes to the original. These changes can be small or big.
Act vs Regulation

Acts are broad laws that are passed and the regulations are guidelines that dictate how the legal provisions of the act should be applied.
Notification vs Circular

Notifications refer to public notifications that let the general public know about laws and changes that are made by the government.Circulars are more internal memos that provide clarification on certain laws or issues.
Section vs Clause in Law

Sections and clauses usually perform the same function of dividing the document into smaller portions in order to make it easier to understand and easier to follow. Sections are most commonly found in contracts, while clauses are commonly found in constitutional acts.
Grand Jury vs Trial Jury

The function of a grand jury is to conduct official proceedings by hearing the evidence and there seems to be enough evidence then a case will be formed. This case will then be tried in the courts in front of a trial jury. A trial jury is the one that hears the evidence against a defender from both the defender’s attorney and the prosecutor and decides whether or not the defender is guilty.
Country vs State

The main between Country and State is that the term “Country” refers to a large nation with its own government and economy, whereas the term “state” refers to a large governing area within the country. “State” can also sometimes be used to refer to the whole country as well.
Bail vs Parole

The term bail refers to paying a certain amount to the government in return of freedom before the date of the trial. A parole is really different from a bail. A parole happens after the accused has been given the sentence and set a jail time. A parole is when a person gets some time off from their jail sentence in order to fulfill some requirements.
Smuggling vs Trafficking

The term, ‘smuggling’ refers to the illegal movement of goods from one place to another, whereas ‘trafficking’ refers to the illegal movement of goods with the purpose of trade. Hence, the basic difference between the two terms is that smuggled goods need not be sold, they can be for personal use, whereas goods are always trafficked with the intention of selling them.
Civil Court vs Criminal Court

Criminal Law is the law that deals with criminals. Crime is basically defines as anything that is ‘threatening, harmful, or otherwise endangering to the property, health, safety, and moral welfare of people’. Civil Law is the law that deals with civil wrongs, and contracts, as well as the law of property. It can also be said that civil law is non-criminal law. Civil Law is tried in Civil Court, while Criminal Law is tried in Criminal Court.
Fundamental Rights vs Human Rights

Fundamental Rights are rights that are granted by a government. These rights are awarded through the country’s constitution, and all people that fall under the jurisdiction of the constitution are granted these rights without presumption or cost of privilege. Human Rights are rights that each human should have. Human Rights are the rights that all human beings should have regardless of nationality, place of residence, sex, national or ethnic origin, color, religion, language, or any other status.
ISIS vs Taliban

ISIS stands for the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria or Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham. The UN has accused ISIS of human rights abuses and war crimes. In the western world, ISIS is primarily known for a series of videos showing beheadings of soldiers, civilians, journalists, and aid workers. The Taliban, also spelt as Taleban, is an Islamic fundamentalist political movement in Afghanistan. The Taliban have been accused of using terrorism as a specific tactic to further their ideological and political goals.

Al-Qaeda is a global militant Islamist organization headed by Osama bin Laden. Al-Qaeda has carried out many attacks on targets including the September 11 attacks.

A lawyer is a person who practices law, whereas a judge is a person who presides over the law.
Legalisation vs Decriminalisation

Legalization or legalisation means that whatever law was there that prohibited a certain product or act is chucked out. Decriminalization or decriminalisation means that performing the act will no longer result in criminal charges.
Rights vs Duties

Rights are legal, social or ethical principals of freedom that people are entitled for by a governing body, whereas duties are responsibilities or obligations of an individual, by the governing body, that are required to done by the said individual.
